About Us:

The Verification Unit (VU) is a community effort dedicated to defending Ukraine by combating cybercrime and online scams. Our mission involves the protection of individuals from falling prey to scams while actively pursuing and exposing those responsible for fraudulent activities. Our technology infrastructure plays a vital role in achieving these goals.

Position Overview:

As a Communicator at the Verification Unit, you will tackle some of the more challenging cases, which can be emotionally taxing. It's essential work, requiring a special kind of dedication and strength. However, you're not alone in this; we have a robust support system in place, including regular debriefings, ensuring that all team members are looked after. Your primary role is guiding and empowering the targets of scams, helping them navigate their issues. You'll be responding to DMs, emails, and inquiries, gathering evidence, and inputting complex cases into our work platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to DMs and Emails:

  • Engage with informants, affected individuals, and the online community through various platforms. Offer guidance, understanding, and tools to empower them.

Case Intake:

  • Handle challenging cases, ensuring they're thoroughly and accurately represented in our work platform.

Evidence Gathering:

  • Collaborate with investigative teams and Compliance to obtain and organize evidence related to online scams and cybercrime.

Support for Affected Individuals:

  • Engage with those affected by scams empathetically, offering resources and information to empower them towards recovery.

Informant Engagement:

  • Build rapport with informants, encouraging ongoing cooperation and gathering additional scam details.

Data Privacy:

  • Uphold strict privacy standards, ensuring sensitive information remains confidential.

Reporting:

  • Generate detailed reports for investigative teams and management.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills emphasizing empathy and understanding.

  • Proficiency in managing complex case intakes and engaging with stakeholders.

  • Ability to gather and organize evidence.

  • Dedication to guiding and empowering those targeted by scams.

  • Collaboration, teamwork, and a commitment to supporting fellow team members.

  • Attention to data privacy and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Additional Information:

This volunteer position does not offer monetary compensation.

Communicators should dedicate 10-15 hours per week on average.

Training, guidance, and regular debriefings ensure Communicators are well-supported.
