What started as a message from a “soldier in Bakhmut” turned into months of deception, emotional manipulation — and eventually, empowerment. This is the story of how one person went from being targeted to exposing the scammer himself.

Our Mission The Verification Unit is a team of relentless volunteers from diverse backgrounds , united by one goal— to fight fraud and protect Ukraine . What began as a mission to expose scammers impersonating Ukrainian soldiers and officials has uncovered a far deeper problem: Every Scam Has Three Victims: Ukraine —as stolen donations never reach those who need them. The person targeted —deceived, manipulated, and often financially exploited. Ukraine again —as trust in giving is destroyed, and people stop donating altogether. We do not work for any platform or law enforcement, and we do not have special powers. What we do have is persistence, strategy, and a community that refuses to just let fraud thrive. Scam Spotting 101: 1-16

  Screenshots of your Donation Scammers will ask you to take a screenshot of your donation.  They often come from countries that are blocked from attaining PayPal accounts.  They often use mules or otherwise shared accounts .  They can't directly access said accounts and need proof of the amount of money flow they are responsible for.  We suspect they often work on commission . These are NETWORKS!  You might lose 20 Dollars, but they amass hundreds of thousands. Hundreds of thousands of Dollars meant for Ukraine! They have a homepage link!
